Five Gaziantep Haikus
1.
The black raven caws while Antep piously sleeps after first prayers.
2.
Sunny Saturday, tramway’s like a sardine can. My heart’s still happy.
3.
Bee on tree blossom, honey-maker, pink petal, afternoon prayer.
4.
Drinking the sunlight, eating the smell of flowers, starving for my lover’s kiss.
5.
Ramadan springtime, evenings getting warmer. I smell mangal smoke.
Oh, Joe, these are so wonderful, I greatly enjoyed reading all five.
Thanks. I've never written a great haiku. It's such a tough form and you have to write so many bad ones before you find a mediocre one.
